Check if an interview candidate is “Faking it”

Faking in interview” is probably the biggest threat for any employer. Every employer has some clear preferences in terms of personality traits that he seeks from his employees. While we all talk about honesty, many employers feel that total honesty in an interview is a sign of no-brainer. Attention to details, ability to work in teams, and dedication to work are top three qualities that are universally desirable by all the employers. While answers to top interview questions in not a secret to anybody, employers are often confused regarding how to decide if an employee is worth the selection? To understand this, it is important to find reasons why candidate fake about their real being:

  • Some candidates fake intentionally. They want to hide certain traits in their personality, which can work negatively for their job. For example, a short-tempered person applying for a sales job may purposefully give wrong answers to portray a cool image in front of the employer.
  • Some candidates fake with a desire to get into good books of the employer. They want to look good in front of the camera and want to get a chance to appear for second or third round of the interview. They are generally the people with low self esteem, who believe that their real strength may exclude them from the consideration for the job.
  • Some candidates fake unknowingly. They are the people who have high opinion about themselves and believe that they are rich in socially desirable characteristics.

It is important for an employer to conduct a series of personality tests and aptitude tests before the interview in order to ascertain the real-self of the candidate.
