The new codes are called ICD 10 codes or International Statistical Classification of Diseases. The code was invented in 1893 by physician Jacques Bertillon who called the codes the Bertillon Classification of Causes of Death. • A02.0 indicates a salmonella infection
• I21.X refers to myocardial infarction
• M16.1 is used for arthritis in the hip
